OVER 700 COLLECTION RECORDS UPLOADED TO THE GOLD MUSEUM WEBSITE
The Gold Museum is pleased to announce that 702 new catalogue records have been added to the online database, plus 747 images added to new or existing entries.
The primary focus has been to add data from objects donated in 2011. These include:
- A specimen of gold in quartz (2011.0229)
- A piano from the 1860s (2011.0050)
- A blue dress c. 1950s-60s created by Beatrice May Hayes (head girl from the Lucas Clothing Factory) for Kathleen May Hayes (married name Tobin) (2011.0317)
- A Barrel for storing and serving scotch c.1850s (2011.0340)
- Two brass hub caps for wagon wheels created by “Kelly & Preston, Waggon Builders, Ballarat” (2011.0530)
- A bright orange boat shaped ash tray, made by pattern shop and foundry employees to be used as centrepieces at M.B. John (John Valves) Social Club Balls in the 1970s (2011.0004)
New books include:
- The Australian Locomotive Engine Driver’s Guide 1906 (2011.0085)
- Official Guide to the 1929 Royal South Street Society Competitions (2011.0032)
- Australian Gold Prospector’s Handbook 1931 (2011.0126)
- A Few Hints as to Proving Wills etc. Without Professional Assistance 1881 (2011.0115)
- Lakeside Hospital Centenary 1893-1993 (2011.0191)
- Golden Point Cricket Club Centenary 1910-2010: The First 100 Years (2011.0015)
Images added to existing records include:
